MY VIRTUAL VISIT TO THE MUSEUM

Upon viewing and reading the provided links in our module about the prehistory arts, medieval arts, classical Greeks, or western arts in history, I’ve noticed that there are different arts that have their own stories and could be found in history. I am not going to lie, but I am really amazed by those pictures and also by the descriptions of each one of them. I am very interested and excited about visiting the actual museum soon, but as of now, I am content because I can view various artworks on Google Arts & Culture. But I will promise myself that I will go and visit an actual museum soon to really have the experience of viewing actual artwork that comes from history.

This picture really got my attention the first moment I viewed it. This is Bacchus and Ariadne, and it belongs to Art History Timeline. This painting is an oil painting and it was painted by Titian between 1520 and 1523. It was commissioned by Alfonso d'Esta, Duke of Ferrara. The Duke wanted to create a gallery of mythological artwork by the greatest artists of his time for his private room.

The story behind this one is that Ariadne was wandering along the shore searching for sight of her lover's ship when she was surprised by the wine god, Bacchus. He had fallen in love with her and asked her to marry him, offering her the sky as a wedding gift, in which one day she would become a constellation. Bacchus was the one who consoled Ariadne the moment she was in despair and wanted to end her life. Their story is very interesting and makes me believe that despite what we’ve been through or how traumatized we are from our past, there will be one person that will come into our life to make us believe in love again.

I would really love to share my experience from my virtual visit to the museum with others as well as encourage them to see it so that they can see how beautiful it is.
